The Monocoat Technology
Thanks to our technology, the consumption is much lower than for a traditional system. This results in a durable colouring and protection in one single layer.
The Molecular Binding creates a durable, long-lasting protection. To obtain this molecular binding it is very important to respect a reaction time of a few minutes. The better the fibres are bonded, the stronger the protection.
Rubio Monocoat oil doesn’t contain any water or solvents and is based on natural ingredients. This means that the product is very safe to use, and equally safe for your environment.
Once all free cellulose fibres are molecularly bonded, surplus product will no longer be accepted by the wood or the bonded Rubio Monocoat layer itself. This is why overlaps or starting marks are avoided.
Rubio Monocoat oil can be applied to almost all wood types, furniture as well as floors (solid wood, veneer, MDF, ...).

B-EPD
Sand your surface correctly so your wood receives maximum colour and protection. Move up in grits gradually and finish with a 100 to 150 grit for furniture, stairs & worktops or with a 100 grit for floors. Vacuum thoroughly, remove dust residue with Cleaner and wait until the surface is completely dry. Apply an optional preparation and/or pre-treatment product if wanted.
Stir the Oil Plus 2C A-component into a mixture and then mix the 2 components carefully (1-2 minutes) with a ratio of 3 units A to 1 unit B. Using the B-component helps speed up the curing time and increase the strength & durability of the protection.
Follow our easy wipe on, wipe off application. Apply the oil evenly with a beige pad or spatula and let absorb for a few minutes. Then remove any excess oil with a lint-free cloth and submerge the cloths in water.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, it does! Our 1-layer product is based on our ground-breaking molecular binding, which was developed by George Barrell. Thanks to this technology, all cellulose fibres are molecularly bonded with our wood oil. This allows you to enjoy a strong and care-free protection of your wood in just one layer. Say goodbye to applying multiple layers, complex and time-consuming sanding processes and having to wait while it dries to apply the next coats!
Yes, we strongly recommend always adding the Accelerator. It ensures faster drying, significantly improves curing, and is essential for achieving the full strength, durability, and resistance to wear, water, and heat. Without it, you won’t get the same level of protection or performance.
No, Oil Plus 2C must penetrate bare wood to work effectively. This means all previous finishes must be completely removed by sanding before application.
The most natural-looking result depends on your wood type. While Pure contains no pigment, it can slightly darken the wood due to the natural tone of linseed oil. If you prefer to keep the original, untreated look, especially on light woods like white oak, Natural or White 5% are better choices. These shades include subtle pigments that reduce the yellowing or darkening effect and help preserve a raw appearance. Always test your chosen colour on a sample of your own wood, as results can vary.
The key difference is that Pure contains no pigment, while Natural includes a creamy white/yellowish pigment. Neither colour is truly "clear". Although Pure is pigment-free, it’s based on linseed oil, which has a natural tint that enriches and slightly darkens the wood. Natural, on the other hand, is formulated to offset this darkening by adding a subtle pigment, especially useful for lighter woods like white oak. Choosing between Pure and Natural depends on your wood type and how close you want to stay to its raw appearance. Always test on a sample first for the most accurate result.
